This work on paper is decorated in pin prick with gouache/watercolour face and hands. We just love the gold crown, belt and sword. Mounted in a cream card mount and housed behind glass in a vintage gilt frame. This historical portrait is ready to display and admire.

This portrait of Edward is from the 1846 three-part operetta (musical play) called Robert Bruce. The story covers the defeat of the forces of Edward II of England by Robert the Bruce, King of Scots. The musical play was adapted from Walter Scott's History of Scotland. The work was premiered on 30 December 1846, by the Paris Opera at the Salle Le Peletier. An interesting point is that the orchestra included for the first time a recently invented instrument, which later came to be known as the saxophone.

Size: Framed 11 7/8 inch tall by 9 ¾ inch wide (29.5 cm by 25 cm).
