The mug features a hand coloured transfer printed design titled ‘Bowling The Hoop’ and depicts two children having great fun when hoop bowling. Hoop rolling, hoop trundling was a popular child’s game dating back at least to the 1500s. One of the earliest depictions in art is by Pieter Bruegel The Elder with his 1560 painting titled 'Childhood Games' where care free children can be seen hoop bowling along with many other childhood games.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThis little mug is a lovely example of English pearlware, notice the decorative fanned handle.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThis is the perfect item for anyone who loves good children’s nursery ware, or has an interest in children's social history.
