The painting features a religious scene of The Trinity. We see God the Father and Jesus Christ seated, each holding a blue orb, celestial sphere symbolizing sovereignty over the world. The Holy Spirit is depicted as a dove hovering between them. They are surrounded by various angels and seraphim in adoration with two large kneeling angels to the foreground representing the act of prayer and intercession. This work was inspired by Ventura di Archangelo Salimbeni (also later called Bevilacqua; b 1568 – d 1613) who was an Italian painter and printmaker. The painting is inspired by his painting titled ‘Disputa of the Eucharist’ that was painted in 1600.
