We say delicious because the coloring of the drabware body reminds us of our favorite butterscotch frosting?

This beautiful little example was made in England and has a drabware - or cane colored body decorated with sepia bat printed scenes. We always think that the name drabware was a unfortunate choice of name when such wares were anything but drab in color or nature. Although unmarked, as was so very common with toy dinnerwares, Drabware was a a popular body during this 1800 to 1820 period and was made by Wedgwood, Spode and Ridgway.

The scenes were very much influenced by works of the Irish artist Adam Buck and depict a mother and young daughter to the front of the cup. We see the young mother holding some cherries above her infant daughter. The back of the cup has a scene of an older child holding a basket of fruit in her lap. The matching saucer depicts a mother and young infant child embracing on a chaise lounge/reclining couch.

Size: Cup height 1 1/2 inch by top diameter 2 3/8 inch excl handle.
