The company was founded in 1854, when Ernst passed away in 1856, it was then run by his sons. During the 1870s and 1880s, the Ernst Bohne Söhne's porcelain factories quality was recognized with several awards. The factory has been known for Capo Di Monte imitations, biscuit figurines, and Dresden-style porcelain items and their Steins were recognised as the most top quality steins during this era. The Ernst Bohne Söhne porcelain company had the advantage of having trade representatives in Berlin, London, Hamburg, and Vienna. No wonder their items were popular around the world, known for their finest craftsmanship and beauty. The blue anchor mark that you see to the base of our figure was used from 1878 onwards, along with the impressed E.B.S.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWe see a double spill vase (spills were long tapers that were lit to light your candles and fire, they would be kept on your mantle in specific tall thin fire proof holders\/spill vases). We see an amazingly detailed depiction of young winged cupid, sat on a mound, head in his hand as his bow has broken....how will he work his magic now? We see his quiver under his leg, we love the silver luster tips to the arrows. In his hand he holds one part of his bow, the broken part with the string and arrow can be seen at his feet. Either side of him are two green naturalistic trunks or stems (vases) adorned with climbing purple flowers and foliage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eJust study the sheer quality of this figure as the detail is phenomenal. Let alone the very pained expression with furrowed brow. Locks of curly hair, his draped Romanic pink toga with tiny red dot decoration. Exquisite little fingers and finger nails, toes and toe nails too! Cupid's tools of his power are his bow and arrow. If you are shot by the arrow you will be struck by uncontrollable desire. The broken arrow with our cupid maybe signifying that Love can destroy as well as conquer?
