The ingenious Tonbridge and Brighton makers used hot sand on their whitewood to create this faux tortoiseshell finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe circular box features a central printed scene of a family visiting the Royal Pavilion at Brighton, East Sussex, England. The scene is titled below ‘Pavilion, Brighton.’ Twist lid and pull to open, twist and push to close. The lid opens to reveal the inner storage compartment which is perfect for storing pins or buttons.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe Royal Pavilion, and surrounding gardens, also known as the Brighton Pavilion, is a Grade I listed former royal residence located in Brighton, England. Beginning in 1787, it was built in three stages as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales, who later became the Prince Regent in 1811 when his poor father King George III was suffering from health issues. The Prince then became King George IV in 1820 when his father died. The Pavillion was built in the Indo-Saracenic style prevalent in India for most of the 19th century. The Pavillion is world known for its extravagant interiors as the Prince was known for spending an awful amount of time and public money on its interior!!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a delightful little item, a fine example of early Tunbridge Ware with a simulated wood finish.
