The plate features the text reading ‘No Surrender 1690’ referencing William III’s victory over King James VII and II of Scotland, England and Ireland at the famous Battle of the Boyne in 1690. The rally cry of 'No Surrender' directed at King James by William and his army when King James advanced and offered terms.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWilliam III (born 4 November 1650 – died 8 March 1702), he was grandson of Charles I of England .
