The Quagga is a subspecies of the Zebra that was hunted to extinction during the late 19th century.\u003cbr\u003e\nVisiting the Zoo must have been an incredible experience for 19th century Britain’s. The plate was likely made to cash in on the interest in wild animals thanks to the popularity of the London Zoological Gardens, the world's oldest scientific zoo which opened in 1828.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe plate also features a decorative raised floral boarder with a pink lustre rim.
