{"product_id":"sir-charles-montgomery-rivaz-ex-libris-book-plates-british-india-history","title":"Sir Charles Montgomery Rivaz Ex Libris Book Plates British India History","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis is a fascinating pair of ex libris book plates!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe plates belonged to Sir Charles Montgomery Rivaz KCSI (b 1845 - d 1926) who was a colonial administrator in British India, and Lieutenant-Governor of the Punjab 1902-1907.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eRivaz was born in 1845, the son of John Theophilus Rivaz, of Watford Hall, Watford, who served as a civilian for 30 years in the North-Western Provinces. His maternal grandfather had also served in India, in the Bengal Civil Service, and three brothers all served or held office in British India, including Colonel Vincent Rivaz, CB (d. 1924).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eRivaz married Emilie Agnew in 1874. Emilie Agnew was the daughter of Major-General Agnew. Lady Rivaz died at Kensington 2 January 1941.
