1830s Georgian Porcelain Lidded Box English Country Scene & Floral

This charmingly large porcelain lidded box or trinket was produced in England circa 1830. The box is a marriage of two items, which would have been quite the task to find a lid that fits so nicely to the base.

This is a splendid decorative lidded box for your period interior. Yes it has a few faults see below, but it displays well and is entirely delicious and worthy of showing off.

The slightly domed lid features a wonderfully detailed hand painted scene depicting a large country house estate. We see a father and mother walking in the gardens with their two children and pet dog. A group of horse riders can be seen in the distance. The imposing house is painted in that gorgeous shade of salmon pink.

The slightly recessed base features a stunning hand painted floral spray; the attention to detail is incredible! The artist was clearly a very talented and experienced painter. The base reminds of those hand painted wares produced by Derby and Coalport during this period. Artists who specialised in botanical paintings would be employed to decorate fine vases, plates and cups.

This is a pretty and absolutely unique trinket, ideal for anyone who loves porcelain from this early part of the 1800s. Measuring:

Diameter 4 ¾ inch (12 cm) by height 1 3/8 inch (3.5 cm).

Condition: Sadly the lid has seen some life! Two old but perfectly strong and stable crack to lid. Four surface chips to base rim. General light surface wear as you would expect after 200 years.
