18th Century Mezzotint Engraving Evening Sheep Shepherdess C 1780
Item Description
This wonderful engraving was produced in England during the 18th century, circa 1780. The mezzotint features an idyllic scene titled ‘Evening.’ The scene features a shepherd and shepherdess walking home through the woodlands with their dog and flock of sheep. The shepherd can be seen holding a shepherd’s crook and a trumpet. We cannot find another example of this engraving!
The print has been cut and applied to paper backing in period, the print is housed behind old glass in its original stained wood frame. This is a rare and decorative engraving that is perfect for anyone who loves sheep, anyone who has a connection to farming.

Measuring: Frame width 12 ½ inch (32 cm) by height 15 5/8 inch (40 cm). Aperture width 10 ½ inch (26.5 cm) by height 13 ½ inch (34.5 cm).
Condition: Light surface wear commensurate with age.
