Item Description

We adore both children's nursery ware from the Staffordshire area of England, and of course Staffordshire dogs. This small money bank combines both elements and will make a fine addition to your collection. It displays sooo well with folk art portraits, samplers or antique sewing tools let alone nursery ware mugs and plates.

This charming little child’s money box was produced in Staffordshire, England during the 19th century, circa 1860. The money box is made from earthenware and is beautifully modelled as the head of a Spaniel dog. This item is a rare survivor due to the nature of this type of money box. Once money is inserted into box, often the only way it can be released is via breaking the money box open. This is the perfect antique for a dog lover or who childhood antique collector.
