19th Century Dinner Bell Mother of Pearl Circa 1850
Item Description
We just adore these wonderful antiques! The combination of gilt metal and mother of pearl just works every time. The added bonus of this item is that it is just as functional today as when it was made in the 1840 to 1860 period.
If you have an entrance porch, or shop counter, this luxury bell will alert you of a waiting visitor or customer. Or have a giggle and use it to summon your dinner guests to the table - its original purpose likely to call the servants to serve the wine!
It stands on its original circular alabaster base. The mother of pearl shells are set into gilt frames and flanked by little grape motifs. The top bell push is a crescent moon shape.
Size: 3 ½ (9 cm) tall by 3 inch (8 cm) diameter
Condition: Original, untouched authentic condition. Some age dulling to the gilt. Light surface wear to the alabaster. Bell works perfectly.
