19th Century English Floral Painting Fuchsia Rose C 1830

This delightful floral watercolour was painted in England during the 19th century, circa 1830. It was painted at a time when most ladies either painted or sketched, especially those of a certain standing who needed activities such as music, painting, and sewing to fill their leisure time. The painting is on paper and features the most wonderful floral spray! The painting is housed behind old glass in its period correct naïve folk art frame.

Measuring: Frame width 9 inch (23 cm) by height 7 7/8 inch (20 cm). Aperture width 6 1/8 inch (15.5 m) by height 5 inch (12.5 cm).

Condition: Light surface wear to frame and glass commensurate with age. The joins of the frame are perfectly stable but have been filled. To our eyes, the frame shape is not quite a perfect rectangle, all part of its 200 year old charm.
