Item Description

An adorable little early Victorian portrait miniature on paper housed in its fabulous bespoke made soild wood frame. The watercolour portrait depicts a young boy dressed in a tartan dress holding a whip. Boys under 6 years wore dresses at this period, until they were 'breeched' - started to wear trousers. The portrait is charmingly naïve. Housed behind old glass in its original frame. The frame was hand carved from one slab of wood. It is thick and chunky with a fabulous natural patina with a figured grain to the wood.
This will be the perfect addition to your folksy, primitive inspired interior. It loos equally at home alongside early pottery, or antique samplers!!

Size: Antique frame 7 1/4 inch (18.5 cm) tall by 5 inch (13 cm) wide by 1 1/4 inch (3.3 cm) deep. Painting approx 4 1/2 inch by 2 1/4 inch (11.5 cm by 6 cm)

Condition: All original. We have been unable to open it as the backing board is firmly wedged in place. Therefore you can see dust and debris trapped under the glass. As seen in our images an old vertical curved line of darkening to the paper/glass.
