Albin Roberts Burt (b 1783 – d 1842) was an experienced miniature portrait painter and engraver; due to his family connections he predominantly painted wealthy sitters. Albin’s brother, Henry Frederick Burt (b 1782 – d 1807), was secretary to Lord Nelson and his mother, Mary, was a friend of Nelson's mistress Emma Hamilton. Albin named one of his daughters, Emma Hamilton Burt (b 1812 – d 1912) after Emma Hamilton (b 1765 – d 1815). Albin named one of his sons, Nelson Burt (b 1813 – d 1822), after Horatio Nelson (b 1758 – d 1805).
