Item Description

This small inlaid wood case oozes the quality and craftsmanship of an item that would have been retailed in the luxury shopping area. Now empty of its original contents, what fun you will have sourcing replacements.

This small portable case would have been easily carried on the person. The refined decoration a reflection of the status/wealth of the owner. This little case does not disappoint as it has prolific inlay to the lid. We see tiny mother of pearl circles radiating around the outer border. Then we see a fine wood stringing which contains stunning brass/ gold inlaid seaweed design squiggles. To the centre of which is a blank brass cartouche. Push the brass button to reveal the original interior. We see remains of the original blue silk lid lining and bespoke blue fitted velvet tool sections. Spaces for needlecase, thimble, awl and scissors.

Size: 5 inch by 2 1/2 inch at its widest by 2 inch at its narrowest point.

Condition: A very tactile little etui. The decoration is in good order. One mother of pearl dot bottom right corner possibly replaced or later re-aligned (it sits a little proud of the rest). Hinges good and strong, opens and closes well with a satisfying snap. This case has been a favourite, this is seen to the interior where the silk and velvet are worn. The back of the case has expected surface wear.

A super survivor that looks a million dollars on display.
