Item Description

It was love at first sight owing to the amazing detail in this Scottish scene that looks Dickensian. This rare and decorative earthenware teapot stand was produced in England during the 19th century, circa 1865. The stand was manufactured by Minton, who were one of England’s best ceramics manufacturers.

The stand with integral feet features a sepia transfer printed design depicting the corner of St Mary's Wynd and Cowgate, Edinburgh, Scotland and was designed by Louis T. Swetnam. Almost all of the buildings in the scene have since been demolished.

The underside of the stand features the manufactures details in raised text reading ‘Minton China Works, Stoke upon Trent.’ Below this we find the raised Minton Manufactures mark.

This is a quality piece, made by one of the best English ceramics manufactures. This is the perfect item for anyone who loves ceramics, anyone with a connection to Edinburgh.

Measuring: Width 6 inch (15 cm) by depth 6 inch (15 cm). Height 7/8 inch (1.5 cm).

Condition: A few age related chips and grazes commensurate with age.
