Antique 19th Century Intaglio Grand Tour Philosopher Circa 1875 Dolls House Size

This delightful little plaster cameo was produced in Europe during the 19th century. This genuine antique cameo is constructed from a plaster composition that has been finished in such a way as to imitate volcanic lava stone. The cameo features a classical ancient Greek gentleman in profile view, most likely the Greek Philosopher Diogenes or Plato; we love the attention to detail to his bead. This is a decorative little item that is the perfect antique for anyone who has a classical or country house style interior or perhaps (with a reverse adhesive hanger applied) to be hung on a special dolls house wall.
