Antique Bilston Enamel Egg Bonbonniere Blue Trinket Box Circa 1780
Item Description
We are pleased to have discovered for you this wonderful blue enamel egg bonbonniere (small ornamental box for storing fancy sweets). This wonderful item was made during the last quarter of 18th century in the Bilston, South Staffordshire region of England. This small oval etui is in the form of a mottled birds egg in the scarce blue colorway and gorgeous gilt mounts.
Size: Perfect for a special antique doll at 2.5" (6 cm) by 1 3/8" (3.2 cm)
Condition: Good but as is common with fragile 18th century enamels, not perfect. There is some amateur restoration to two areas - to the front base and to the rear under the hinge. Minor enamel loss to the interior of the egg just under the rim. See images
A gorgeous, genuine George III era example waiting for a new owner.
