Antique Herculaneum Creamware Mug Tankard Romantic Lovers Purple Puce Transfer Printed C 1800

This fine creamware mug was produced in England circa 1790-1810, printed in Liverpool by the Herculaneum Pottery. The mug is so tactile; it’s hard to believe that it is over 220 years old!

The mug features an overglaze monochrome purple enamel transfer printed scene depicting a young suitor picking roses for his beloved. What a charming little scene. See a similar Lord Nelson bulb pot at the National Maritime Museum with the same transfer print item Id: AAA5035

This is fabulous and rare survivor from the 18th century. Just think what was happening at the time this mug was produced...revolution and unrest!

Measuring: Width including handle 3.75 inch (9.5 cm) by height 3 5/8 inch (9 cm).

Condition: Minor tiny indentation to rim, some light professional restoration to rim which is not noticeable when on display and is exceedingly hard to notice but mentioned for accuracy. Slight rub to the overglaze enamel design.
