Antique Large Staffordshire Hen On Nest Egg Holder Chickens English C 1890

This fantastic large Staffordshire pottery (not bisque) egg holder was produced in England during the 19th century, circa 1890. This is a truly wonderful item that is perfect for anyone who loves chickens and anyone who loves folk art and all things rustic.

This large egg holder was produced in Staffordshire, England and features extensive hand coloured decoration. The base is modelled as a nest, the hen can be removed to store you eggs. Hen egg holders were produced in a variety of sizes and styles. We have several smaller hen egg holders listed in our store. The smallest pieces were designed to hold just one egg!

Measuring: Width 8 ¾ inch (22 cm) by height 7 ¾ inch (19 cm). Depth 5 ¾ inch (14.5 cm).

Condition: Flaking to the painted surface in a few areas. A few minor small chips to inside rim of hen.
