Antique P & P Gally Print Happiness Original Frame C 1815

We just adore these miniature Regency era little hand coloured prints. It is their naïve charm that appeals. They are becoming very hard to discover so know is your chance to snap up this little treasure.

This wonderful hand coloured engraving is titled ‘Happiness’ and was printed in England during the early 19th century, circa 1815. The engraving depicts a couple in domestic bliss. The young mother and her daughter cuddled together on the garden bench with the son running to greet father who has just returned with the evening meal in hand.

The print was printed and sold by ‘P and P Gally.’ P and P Gally who were printers and publishers based in London who was active during the late 18th and early 19th century. Such prints would have hung on the interior walls of everyday folk, that is why they are often affectionately referred to as cottage prints, or nursery prints (the ones that have a moral).

Measuring: Frame width 6 7/8 inch (17.5 cm) by height 4 7/8 inch (12 cm) Aperture width 5 ½ inch (14.5 cm) by height 3 ½ inch (9 cm).

Condition: Minor areas of loss to bottom edge of paper, occasional area of staining. Light surface wear to frame. All commensurate with age.
