We are delighted to offer this very decorative pair of small papier mache plates. These small plates date from the 1880 period. They are beautifully made from thick papier mache, lacquered with inlaid mother of pearl scenes. We adore the scalloped edges with their inlaid abalone shard borders. These scenes inspired by the Far East were highly fashionable during the Art Nouveau period. They make a deliciously decorative pair for the home, or interior designer.
Size: 6 1/2 inch diameter (16.5 cm)
Condition: Good and sound, just two missing pieces of mother of pearl to each edge. Minor expected wear considering their 150 years of age.
