Antique Valentine Microcalligraphy Forget Me Not Miniature Verse Poem C 1850
Item Description
Isn't this is a wonderful example of micro calligraphy. This handwritten piece is titled ‘Remember me’ and is handwritten in the teeniest, tiniest ink script. You need a magnifier to read it. It was so beautifully written around the 1850 period. A wonderful early Victorian item, which is more than likely a valentine piece! The text reads:
‘Say if no more in converse sweet. The blissful hour shall flee. Say if that we no more may meet. Wilt though remember me.
No time shall change my firm regard. Nor banish thoughts of thee. And I shall feel a sweat reward if thou wilt remember me.
Art thou not dear unto my heart. Oh search that heart and see. And from my bosom tear the part. That breaks not unto thee.
Oh yes tho art suffering dear. More dear their tongue can tell. And if a fault is cherished there. Tis loving thee too well.’
The poem is handwritten in tiny ink script on paper with a decorative gold embossed Dresden paper surround, the Dresden paper is designed as tiny clam shells. The piece is housed behind old glass in its original gilt gesso frame. This is the perfect item for anyone who is looking for a unique conversation piece for their home.
