Item Description
This small solid wood 19th century maroon velvet covered casket has its original gilt furnishings to each lid corner, including the matching gilt metal escutcheon (no key). The lid has a central rectangular panel of bevelled glass with gold metal braid edges. The same matching braid can be seen around the base of the lid and the top of the base. Inside we see the original cotton Jaquard linings.
Size: 2 5/8 inch tall, by 6 3/4 inch wide by 4 3/4 inch deep.
Condition: Not perfect, signs of age and usage. Mainly to the beveled glass lid that is very scratched to the interior, with possible initials left by a naughty young child! All part of its history.
