Antique Velvet Theorem Oval Frame Floral Roses Tulip Folk Art

A decorative little early Victorian (1830s) painting on Velvet of a tulip and two roses. This theorem has then in the Edwardian period circa 1910 been salvaged (perhaps because of damage) and re-applied to a dark brown/black cotton velvet ground. The needleworker who created this project was talented as shown by her very neat chain stitch border of silk thread, complete with scattered embroidered silk thread leaves. Housed behind glass in its original oval faux grain composition frame, new backing paper to the reverse more recently.

Size: Framed 10 inch high (25 cm) by 8 inch wide (20 cm).

Condition: As mentioned an antique 19th theorem re-applied to a velvet background. Usual edge wear to the edges of the composition frame. Some dust trapped under the glass, and a small area of fading to the brown velvet background seen at 6 o'clock.
