Here we offer an antique emery pincushion that is shaped like a ripe strawberry with a red fabric body. It features tiny stitched dots resembling strawberry seeds and a green woollen stem at the top. It is shown next to a standard brass sewing thimble for size comparison.
Traditionally these little pincushions were filled with fine emery sand rather than standard stuffing. Plunging your sewing needles and pins into the emery cleans away rust and keeps the points sharp. These sewing accessories became very popular during the Victorian era.
All other sewing tools in last images are available individually, and are not included with this purchase.
Size: 1 3/4 inch tall ( 4 cm)
Condition: Good and sound, very firmly filled with emery. Possibly the wool stalk is a little shortened.
