Frederick William Lillywhite (b 1792 – d 1854) was an English cricketer during the game's roundarm era. One of the main protagonists in the legalisation of roundarm, he was one of the most successful bowlers of his era. His status is borne out by his nickname: ‘The Nonpareil’ (The Nonpareil means "unrivaled" or "peerless.")
The print was published by William Henry Goodburn Mason (b 1810 – d 1879), Repository of Arts, Brighton on May the 16th 1841 and engraved by Charles Hunt (b 1803 – d 1877). Charles Hunt was an Aquatint engraver and etcher of sporting prints. William Henry Goodburn Mason was a publisher and printseller, also carver and gilder; 'Printseller and Frame Maker by Appointment to Her Majesty', based in Brighton.
