English Pearlware Cup and Saucer Blue and White Transferware Rare Swan Pattern C 1810
Item Description
This is an incredible item! This stunning pearlware cup and saucer was produced in England during the early 19th century, circa 1810. The matching cup and saucer features a wonderfully crisp blue and white transfer printed design depicting swans on the water! The cup and saucer also features a decorative floral border.
This is an extremely rare item. Swan related pieces are highly collectible. The cup and saucer was manufactured by the Belle Vue Pottery, Hull, England. The saucer features a blue and white transfer printed manufactures mark to the base reading ‘Stone China.’
The only example we have seen of this piece is in the reference book ‘Encyclopaedia of British Transfer-Printed Pottery Patterns, 1790 – 1930’ by Gillian Neale – Page 36 – which refers to the item as ‘A very rare saucer dish.’
This is one of the most impressive pieces of blue and white transfer ware we have handled. This is the perfect item for a collector.
