Rare 1820s Tunbridge Ware Rouge Pot A Brighton Trifle Treen

This wonderful little Tunbridge Ware ladies rouge/salve pot was produced in Kent, England during the 19th century. The white wood case was produced during the 1820s and features its original internal ceramic pot and original printed external label reading ‘A Brighton Trifle.’ The screw top lid opens to reveal the ceramic pot which would have held this early cosmetic.

Souvenir items such as this would have been manufactured in Kent and then retailed in the town listed on the label.

Brighton is a seaside resort located in the county of East Sussex, England. In the Georgian and Regency era, Brighton developed as a highly fashionable seaside resort, encouraged by the patronage of the Prince Regent, later King George IV, who spent much time in the town and constructed the famous Royal Pavilion in the Regency era.

This is a rare item in original condition, with excellent provenance from a Tunbridge ware expert and author.
