Item Description

This is a rare opportunity to own a highly sought-after child’s nursery ware plate! This fantastic child’s plate was produced in England during the early 19th century, circa 1830. The plate features a red transfer printed design depicting a Leopard. How exciting! Nursery ware plates featuring animals, let alone exotic animals, are rare and sought after. We cannot imagine how the child must have felt seeing this exotic animal in front of them. It is important to remember that the first Zoos in England opened around this period and even then, they were few and far between.

Measuring: Width 5 3/8 inch (13.5 cm).

Condition: Very good with a minor old hairline to the rim at 3 to 4 o’clock.
