RARE 19th Century John Wesley Methodist Childs Nursery Plate Pink Lustre Luster C 1830

This rare and decorative nursery ware plate was produced in England during the 19th century, circa 1830.

The monochrome transfer printed design commemorates the life of The Reverend John Wesley b 1703 – d 1791) with the hold bible being the centrepiece of the design. The text reads ‘Rev’d John Wesley, Born June 14th 1703 – died March 2nd 1791.’

John Wesley was one of our most important of English religious figures. He is most famous for being the leader of a revival movement within the Church of England known as Methodism. Methodist churches can be found in many of English towns and villages. Despite earlier persecution, Wesley remained within the established Church of England, insisting that the Methodist movement lay well within its tradition.

This is an extremely rare item. It is the perfect item for anyone with a passion for early English ceramics or social history. We love the floral raised border and the pink lustre rim decoration.
