Item Description

This fabulous large mug was produced in Staffordshire, England during the 19th century, circa 1840. The mug features a sprigged scene featuring a dog chasing a partridge with a sprigged classical figure to each side. Each of the sprigged scenes has been glazed in green, brown, red and blue.

The mug also features a pretty scroll form moulded with laurel leaves and an engine turned style section to the base of the mug. We love the sprigged scenes on the blue ground, the ground and handle clearly influenced by Chetham & Woolley pieces.

This is the perfect item for anyone who collects rare and early English ceramics. A real statement piece.

Measuring: Width including handle 5 ½ inch (14 cm) by height 3 7/8 inch (10 cm).

Condition: Perfectly stable old hairline to base of handle.
