18th Century Classical Engraving Sleeping Child Gilt Frame 1794
Item Description
This charming little decorative print was printed in England during the 18th century, in the year 1794. The engraving features a classical style scene with a child sleeping on an ornately decorated chair. The scene features the most wonderful floral border, so small yet to detailed. The engraving is housed in its original gilt frame with beaded gesso decoration and eglomise glass. This is a fabulous artwork that is perfect for anyone who loves country house art and antiques.
The back of the frame is complete with trimmed publishers/printers details for Antonio Cesare de Poggi of No. 91 New Bond Street, London. Published September 1794.
Antonio Cesare de Poggi (b 1744 – d 1836) was an Italian portrait and history painter and fan painter; later print and drawing dealer and print publisher.
Measuring: Frame width 6 ¾ inch (17.5 cm) by height 6 ¾ inch (17.5 cm). Aperture width 5 ¼ inch (13.5 cm) by height 5 ¼ inch (13.5 cm).
Condition: Light surface wear to frame, the occasional area of touch up to gilt.
