Item Description

This fabulous sewing box dates to the circa 1810 period, during the reign of George iii. This decorative red Morocco leather sewing box has the most wonderful colour and patina! The sewing box is complete with its original gilt metal details; we love the fruit basket with ring handle to the lid and the rococo style feet and escutcheon.
The lid opens to reveal the inner storage compartment. This is a quality item, it is not a perfect example but displays excellently. This gorgeous example has a wonderful look and feel that you will adore.

Measuring: Width 5 1/8 inch (13.5 cm) by height 3 3/8 inch (8 cm). Depth 3 1/8 inch (8.5 cm).

Condition: Lovely from the front but damaged and old repairs elsewhere. Some age related wear to back of box and lid section with two replacement sections of leather to rear hinge. Interior is worn, locking mechanism not tested and no key is included. The hinge mechanism has been replaced. All can be seen in our images.
