19th Century Miniature Engraving Spring By John Fairburn C 1830

If you like early English nursery and tinsel prints this will make a find addition to your collection. Having retailed Fairburn engravings over the past 30 years, we have never come across one this small before!!

This wonderful hand coloured print was produced in England during the 19th century, circa 1830. The print features a scene titled ‘Spring.’ The scene features a mother and child, the little boy is hoop rolling. The mother can be seen holding a watering can and the little boy can be seen holding a basket of chicks.

The miniature print was printed by John Fairburn (fl 1789-1840) who was a printer and publisher of inexpensive caricatures and popular prints. He also retailed and printed maps, charts and books for the more general public. The print is housed behind its original old wavy glass in a slightly later frame. We have not found another example of this print.
This is the perfect item for anyone who loves gardening or English country house antiques.

Measuring: Frame width 3 7/8 inch (9.8 cm) by height 4 7/8 inch (12.5 cm). Aperture width 2 3/8 inch (6 cm) by height 3 ½ inch (9 cm).

Condition: Light surface wear commensurate with age.
