19th Century New Hall Porcelain Plate Adam Buck Mother and Child Circa 1815

This classical, elegant porcelain plate was produced by the New Hall porcelain company in England and dates to the early 19th century, circa 1815. The plate features a classical Adam Buck bat printed pattern depicting a devoted mother playing with her young daughter. We adore the mother's fashionable dress and headwear. Adam Buck (b 1759–d 1833) was a celebrated Irish neo-classical portraitist, miniature painter and engraver.

The hand painted decoration is superb and captures one's heart. The scene is absolutely timeless and instantly captures the all-encompassing, pure and eternal love that a mother feels for her child. The pattern number is ‘224’, we love the combination of the white, black and hand painted coloring. One can easily see how Regency home owners adored this pattern back in 1815.

This plate would have been part of a large dinner service of matching porcelain tableware. The design was transfer printed in a stippled effect onto the surface and then the polychrome coloring and gilding was hand applied. As is common with such large services there are no makers marks on the cup and saucers.

Condition: Good, old 0.5 inch hairline to rim and y shape hairline to base
