19th Century Oil Painting On Board Cattle Cows Rural Landscape After Dutch Artists C 1860

This wonderful oil painting was produced in England during the 19^th century, circa 1860. The oil on board painting features two cows in a rural setting. The painting is similar in style to those fantastic paintings by Paulus Potter (b abt. 1625 – d abt. 1654) who was a Dutch painter who specialized in landscapes featuring animals, often from a low vantage point. The artist that painted our painting likely took influence from his works.

The painting is housed in the most wonderful gilt gesso frame; the frame is stunning! The frame has some wear, minor chips etc but we feel this adds to its appeal.

This is the perfect artwork for anyone who loves cows. Please see our collection of 18^th and 19^th century art and antiques listed separately in our store.

Measuring: Frame width 13 inch (33 cm) by height 11 inch (27.5 cm). Aperture width 9 inch (23 cm) by height 7 inch (18 cm).

Condition: Minor area of restoration to sky above cows horns. Natural crazing to board surface, there is a minor horizonal hairline to surface of board from left edge of field to white chest of light brown cow. All perfectly stable. Frame has a few chips, historic touch ups etc but is a beautiful thing.
