Item Description

This rare and decorative pottery spill vase was made in England around the 1820 period. This is an extremely rare vase!

The vase is modelled as a Cornucopia shell intertwined with a pair of dolphins. So unusual! The vase is hand decorated with a mix of pinks, green and brown glazes. Notice also the pink lustre decoration with pink splash lustre decoration to the base and middle sections of the vase. Pink lustre decoration is only found on the earlier pieces (see pieces produced by Dixon & Austin). The vase was likely produced by Davies & Co of Sunderland. One of our kind customers provided us with an image of hers, they are so hard to find!

Measuring: Width 6 ¼ inch (16 cm) by height 8 inch (20.5 cm).

Condition: Good and sound. Area of professional restoration to front and back left side of vase rim. Really very hard to see to the untrained eye. Possible area of restoration to the sides of the middle twist section. The occasional minor fleabite.
