19th Century Victorian Girls Silk Wedding Shoes Louis Heel Circa 1880 AF

We were thrilled to discover this beautiful, small pair of Girls Victorian silk shoes. Likely worn as Wedding shoes during the 1880s period. Their small size makes them the perfect for display, we are thinking under a glass dome would look superb.

These small silk shoes were beautifully made back in the 1880s. Made from cream silk satin with rounded blunt toe, satin covered Louis heels (echoing back to the previous 18th century) and a gorgeous vamp silk bow to each. Leather soles are shaped with impressed numbers 188 near the heel breast and number 26/3 at the toe. Having leather heel top pieces with brass studs. The quarters, heels and socks have a plain-woven linen lining with heel stiffeners to the back heels. At some point cream elastic ties were attached to the interior (the remains of one is there). At another point, rather charmingly, cream cotton wrap around binding ties were added to help them stay on the little girls feet.

Size: 7 inches long by 3 inch tall (heel hight 1 inch), 18.5 cm long by 8 cm tall).

Condition: If condition is important, please overlook these shoes as they show signs of age and usage. As seen in our many pictures, the cream silk satin has melted in many areas. The original matching silk satin top bows also have general melting and fraying. These 145 year old children's shoes are not suitable for wearing, they are for display only.
