Item Description

We love a characterful lion and this early Victorian example has such a personality. This charming pottery figure of a lion was produced in the North of England during the 19th century, circa 1840. The pottery figure is modelled as a recumbent lion on a mound base and is decorated in the most fabulous treacle glaze! The figure is finely modelled, a quality example.

Measuring: Width 4 ¾ inch (12 cm) by height 3 inch (8.5 cm). Depth 2 ¾ inch (7 cm).

Condition: Perfectly stable hairline to base near lions tale. Old chip to back of figure.
