Antique 19th Century Silhouette Full Length Portrait Lady Dress Handkerchief English C 1830

This wonderful hand painted portrait silhouette originated in England during the 19th century, circa 1835. Silhouettes are typically black. This example features gold and white detailing to the sitter’s jewellery and clothing. This style of silhouette is less common and was more expensive to commission. The silhouette features a lady holding a handkerchief and she can be seen wearing a silk cap and gold brooch.

The silhouette is painted on paper and is housed behind old glass in its original bird’s eye maple veneer frame. This is the perfect item for anyone who is looking for a very special silhouette. The silhouette is one of a pair, see her Rent Collector husband, each sold separately.

Measuring: Frame width 10 1/8 inch (25.5 cm) by height 12 7/8 inch (33 cm). Aperture width 6 5/8 inch (17 cm) by height 9 ½ inch (24 cm).

Condition: Minor area of discolouration to left edge of paper. A few minor areas of loss to veneer frame.
