Antique Folk Art Painting Girl And Kitten Cat Portrait English C 1835 AF

It is becoming really difficult to discover genuine, 100% authentic early folk art portraits, no wonder we are so excited to offer you this opportunity to own a wonderfully original naïve folk-art painting from the early 19th century. This is one of the most desirable types of 19th century folk art, naïve paintings featuring children with their pets!

This incredible watercolour painting is on card and was painted in 1835. It was painted as one of a set of three sibling portraits, see her sister with Grodnertal doll and her brother with his loyal family dog and cute wheelbarrow, his is actually dated 1835, each retailed individually.

In this painting we see a little girl wearing a typical 1830s blue dress with puffed sleeves, also wearing a red coral necklace - a common accessory for a child at this time as coral was reputed to ward of evil spirits. She can be seen holding her adorable little pet kitten. This wonderful kitten painting is housed behind its original glass in its original frame complete with its original back board.

These paintings are highly sought after by collectors, as mentioned previously, genuine examples rarely come to the market, so this is an amazing opportunity to own such a decorative painting.

Measuring: Frame width 11 1/8 inch (28.5 cm) by height 13 7/8 inch (35.5 cm). Aperture width 7 inch (18 cm) by height 9 ¾ inch (25 cm).

Condition: Damaged and showing her age. Please study our images as they clearly reflect this. The card has some damage presenting as holes in the card, all three paintings do from this collection. Probably from being stored in a damp old attic for many, many years!!There is an arc shape area of darkening to the card bottom right corner. Some minor age related wear to frame. All part of her history, being this strong survivor of approaching two hundred years!!
