Antique Georgian Bonbon Box Hand Coloured Couple & Dog Scene C 1820

This is a fine quality little luxury chocolate box was produced in the early 19th century, circa 1820. This Georgian era dragee box is constructed from rigid card and to the lid features a hand-coloured transfer printed design beneath glass. We see a young couple and their dog in the grounds of a country house. What a fabulous little scene!

Originally made to hold luxury chocolates and candies, these early boxes now make very special jewelry boxes.

The hinged lid opens to reveal the inner storage compartment complete with its original paper lining and original mirror section to the underside of the lid. We love the rich gold detailing throughout!

Measuring: Width 4 1/8 inch (10.5 cm) by height 1 3/8 inch (3.5 cm). Depth 3 3/8 inch (8.5 cm).

Condition: Some minor lifting under painted glass and mirror. Light surface wear with some minor age related wear to interior of box. Nothing detrimental, accurately depicted in our many images.
