Antique Georgian Miniature Painting Oil On Board Rural Landscape Horses Circa 1800

This charming oil unframed on board was painted in England during the late 18th/early 19th century, circa 1800. The oil painting features an idyllic rural scene with the dramatic sky and mountains filling half of the composition. The strategically placed figures and manmade objects symbolizing how small humans are in comparison to the might of nature. This was a popular genre of scene during the 18th and 18th centuries.

We see a man stopped to graze his horse along a country lane. Notice the horse and cart in the distance and the inn on the right. A talented artist and a wonderful little painting in this small scale.
