Antique Georgian Silver Christening Set Red Leather Case Dated 1831, Baby Shower Gift

This delightful boxed child’s christening set dates to the early 19th century, to the year 1831. These two small cutlery items are utterly adorable and SO, SO sweet. These are a fine example of English Georgian era silver in the Queen’s Pattern; they have been produced to a MOST excellent quality. Due to their miniature proportions they belonged to a child; they now make a quality christening present or gift. They are housed in their original red leather travelling case with its rich red velvet lining and two hook clasps which work perfectly. Both pieces of cutlery were produced by the silversmith Aaron Hadfield who worked in Sheffield, England. Each piece is monogrammed with the initials ‘RBS’.

One piece features the following marks. Sovereign head ‘Duty Mark’. Crown mark, Sheffield Assay Office Date letter ‘h’ 1831 Lion Passant Mark, Sterling silver Manufactures mark ‘A. H‘ for Aaron Hadfield.

Measuring: Case width 6.25 inch (16 cm) by depth 1.75 inch (4.5 cm). Fork width 4 7/8 inch (12.5 cm) by depth 0.5 inch (1.3 cm), the other width 5.75 inch (14.5 cm) by depth 0.5 inch (1.3 cm).

Weight: 0.5 oz (0.15 g)
