Item Description

WOW is your first impression when viewing this exquisite quality English porcelain trio from Regency England. This matching porcelain tea cup, coffee can and saucer (trio) date to the 1810 period and display Pattern number 281 in orange to the base of the tea cup. Each has the most decorative Imari type pattern of Lotus leaves upon a cobalt blue ground with top quality gilding and a rich glassy glaze. Of course at this 1810 period Imari patterns were all of the rage inspired by Japanese wares. Most English porcelain manufacturers produced their own version of Imari patterns think of Chamberlains, Spode, Ridgway and Coalport. Thomas Grainger (1783-1839) of Grainger Worcester was no different and together with his partner John Wood ran a successful porcelain business noted for their beautiful ornamental Imari patterns and wares.

This beautiful Imari design is exceptional in all of its details and quality of the hand painting. Just look at those gorgeous ring handles!! The saucer and tea cup are of fine see through porcelain, the coffee cup a little heavier in body being not translucent (remember this was early porcelain making).

It will be the star of your early English porcelain Imari collection.

Size: Saucer 5 1/4 inch (13.5 cm) diameter, tea cup 2 1/4 inch (6 cm)tall, coffee cup 2 1/2 inch (6.5 cm)tall

Condition: Offered in very good condition, damage free. A little wear to the gilding seen to the centre of the saucer. Glaze crazing to the coffee can.
