Antique Miniature Plate A Present For A Good Girl Nursery Ware Wedgwood C 1830

This wonderful child’s nursery ware plate was produced in England, circa 1830. This is a rare plate; we have not seen another like it! The plate features a monochrome transfer printed design. Plates like these were given as gifts or rewards for well-behaved children during the Georgian/early Victorian era. This example was clearly themed around rewarding a child for being scholarly with the globe and pen and ink book. The printed text reads ‘A Present for A Good Girl.’

The underside of the plate features an impressed marked reading ‘Wedgwood.’ This is an extremely rare survivor, Wedgwood nursery ware was produced in relatively small numbers.

Measuring: Diameter 4.25 inch (11 cm).

Condition: Black line at 10 o’clock is a line in the transfer print, not a hairline. Light surface wear to base.
