Antique Needles Case Pair Mauchline Ware Needle Packets Boxes C 1860
Item Description
This wonderful pair of Mauchline Ware needle packet boxes were made in Scotland during the 19th century, circa 1860. Each of the needle cases are constructed from white wood then lacquer decorated.
One example features a lacquered red, green and yellow geometric Tartan design.
The other examples feature fruiting vines in black and sepia tones to imitate the earlier penwork pieces.

Provenance: From the collection of the late Michael Finlay (b 1935 – 2025), antiques dealer and author.
Measuring: Smallest; width 1 inch (2.5 cm) by height 2 3/8 inch (6 cm). Largest width 1 inch (2.5 cm) by height 2 3/8 inch (6 cm).
Condition: Light surface wear commensurate with age.
